Minister of Islamic Affairs, Dr. Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed has said that the current government has been doing much works to foster Islamic awareness among the people of Maldives.
Dr. Shaheem made this remark following his call to all scholars, religious groups and organizations to boycott the February 27 mass gathering organized by the Jumhooree Party and Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP).
While Dr. Shaheem made this remark, the Jumhooree Party’s Secretary General Ahmed Sameer called Dr. Shaheem to resign from the Ministry immediately.
Sameer said that he calls the Minister of Islamic Affairs to resign because the government is drowned in sin and doing forbidden matters in the Quran in his presence.
He said that no government which carries out the prohibited matters will be considered an Islamically accepted government.
“Where is the 11th verse of Suratul Hujuraat? Is it just to be recited during Friday sermons alone? The Minister of Islamic Affairs is remaining there supporting the atrocities of the government? Or is such atrocities allowed for the President?,” he said.
Sameer said that the people will align whoever participates in such a government remaining silent regarding the injustices committed by the government.
