People’s Majlis accepts Bill on Amendment to Audit Act
People’s Majlis has accepted the Bill on Amendment to Audit Act.

At the Eighteenth Sitting of the Second Session of the People’s Majlis held yesterday, MPs voted to accept the Bill on Amendment to Audit Act (Act no 4/2007) for further consideration, with 55 votes in favor and two abstentions, following which the Bill was forwarded to the Committee on Economic Affairs.

The First Reading for the Bill, submitted on behalf of the Government by MP for Thulusdhoo, Hon. Mohamed Waheed, was held on 17 June 2014, at the Third Sitting of the Second Session.

At yesterday’s Sitting, MPs also concluded debate on the Bill on Amendment to the Immigration Act (Act no 1/2007), submitted on behalf of the Government, by MP for Guraidhoo, Hon. Ibrahim Riza.

A total of 34 MPs spoke on the Bill during the debate allocated for the Bill.

At yesterday’s Sitting, MPs also concluded debate on the Bill on Amendment to the Goods & Services Tax Act (10/2011), submitted on behalf of the Government by MP for Gadhoo, Hon. Ahmed Rasheed. Eight MPs spoke on the Bill today. The First Reading for the Bill was held on 9 June 2014, at the Second Sitting of the Second Session.

Additionally, the debate time allocated for the Bill to Repeal the Act on Detention and Imprisonment of Persons for More Than Seven Days (5/78) submitted on behalf of the Government by MP for Baarah, Hon. Ibrahim Shujau, concluded yesterday.
