Riyaz calls Police not to obey politically motivate orders
Former Commissioner of Police (retired) Abdulla Riyaz has called the Police not to obey politically motivated orders regardless who is making the order.

Abdulla Riyaz said reminded the Police not to breach the oath they took to protect the people and to establish peace and stability.

“Therefore they should not act upon any politically motivated orders in any case. No police officer should follow such orders,” he said.

Kimbidhoo constituency MP, Abdulla Riyaz also noted that many of the Police officers are professionals and they do not want to go against the constitution. However, he said that the Police today are forced to work against the constitution.

He said that the government forced the Police to arrest former Defence Minister Colonel (retired) Mohamed Nazim.

“Nazim was framed. It is not possible to prove Nazim is guilty in accordance to the constitution. We have enough evidences against them,” he said.

Abdulla Riyaz also said that it is clear that the arrest of former President Mohamed Nasheed is also politically motivated.
