Leaders of the three political parties, Jumhooree Party, Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP), Adhaalath Party have called for the release of Former Defence Minister Mohamed Nazim.
With the call of Jumhooree Party leader Gasim Ibrahim, MDP Leader former President Mohamed Nasheed and Adhaalath Party leader Sheikh Imran Abdulla, many analysts believe that they represent the voice of 93 percent of the Maldivian population.
Gasim said in a tweet that depriving anyone of their rights granted by the constitution is slavery. He said that it is an individual obligation to call for the freedom of former Defence Minister Nazim from slavery.
Former President Nasheed stated in a tweet that Nazim was framed and working for his freedom is from the welfare of the people.
On 16th of this month, Nasheed said that Nazim is a military professional and a politician. He said that if he is arrested without any justification then there is no safety and security for others.
Adhaalath Party leader Sheikh Imran Abdulla said in a tweet that Nazim should be freed immediately to ensure the basic rights of all people.
