Tension broke out between protestors and Police officers last night during the “Maldivians In Defence of the Constitution” protest held by Jumhooree Party and the Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP).
The confrontation occurred when the Police blocked a pickup carrying the sound system for the protest.
Police used tear gas to disperse the crowd and arrested two protestors.
With more altercations between the police and the protestors, the protestors left Seagull corner and gathered near Majeedhee Magu corner.
The protestors called the government to release former Defence Minister Mohamed Nazim and to stop all breaches of the constitution.
