Jumhooree Party Secretary General Ahmed Sameer has said that the religious scholars in Maldives and the Islamic Ministry should admonish President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom to rule by what Allah has revealed.
Speaking to Miadhu Daily, Sameer said that the people are forced to come out to the streets because the country is ruled by other than the Sharia of Allah.
He said that there will be no prosperity if the government strays away from the way of Allah. He said that Allah calls to be fair and just and to grant the rights of the people.
He said that is it he main reason for the existence of a rulership.
“There is no justice. Today Maldives is in a very dark situation. The electoral oaths turn out to be nothing but soap bubbles. The people are deprived from their basic rights. The laws are broken. People are arrested on the accusations of terrorism whenever they want,” he said.
Sameer said that the President is feigning ignorance regarding what his own government is doing. He said that President Yameen claims he did not know of the decision to evacuate buildings of Maldives National University depriving thousands of students from their right to education.
He said that it is not imminent that the religious scholars and Ministry of Islamic Affairs remind the President of the meaning of being the ruler of a country.
