Former Commissioner of Police, Kinbidhoo constituency Abdulla Riyaz has said that the former Defence Minister Colonel (retired) Mohamed Nazim was arrested to destroy his political future.
Abdulla Riyaz made this remark speaking at last night’s meeting of the “Maldivians in defence of the constitution” organized by the Jumhooree Party.
“We should raise the question why he was arrested after twenty days later since whatever that was allegedly confiscated from his residence. I believe that the reason was to destroy his political carrier,” he said.
He said that many politicians met Nazim following his dismissal from the government. He said that these meetings were not held to plan or orchestrate a rebellion.
“Politicians were met so to decide which party to join. He wanted to check which party was more attuned to the needs of the people so he can join to serve the people and the nation.
