Maldives Police Service has stated that the family of former Minister Mohamed Nazim is not allowed to take food to him until such a process is established.
Media Officer, Station Inspector Ismail Ali said that this is prohibition is not restricted to only Nazim but it is general to all suspects in Police custody.
He said that if Nazim is exempted from this general rule, then others will also request for it.
Ismail Ali assured that no one will be given any ‘bad’ food. He said that if anyone in Police custody is recommended to take particular food by a doctor then that food will be also provided.
Many have raised concern regarding how the Police acted in the raid search of Nazim’s residence and also regarding how Nazim was arrested while the investigation was concluded and sent for prosecution.
