Ambassador of China to Maldives, Wang Fukang has stated that China will be focusing on major projects in this year to expand cooperation with Maldives.
The Ambassador made this remark speaking at the 2015 Spring Festival Reception Celebrating the Chinese New Year of Goat held at Dharubaaruge.
“In 2015, we will further enhance our relationship to enable closer interaction between the two countries and more benefits for the two peoples, sharing greater development benefits from China to Maldives and achieving win-win cooperation together,” he said.
Ambassador Fukang stated that China will continue to expand China-Maldives cooperation under the framework of 21st Century Maritime Silk Road, focusing on major projects like Male-Hulhule Bridge, exploring new possibilities for more investment from China to Maldives and promoting closer people to people exchanges.
“We will continue our Free Trade Area negotiations, facilitating the export of Maldivian fish products to China,” he said.
He also said that China will hold the second meeting of Joint Committee on Economic and Trade Cooperation and first meeting of Joint Committee on Marine Cooperation.
“We will encourage more Chinese tourists to visit Maldives and establish more mechanisms to ensure healthy and steady development of tourism in Maldives,” he said.
The Ambassador stated that it was honour that all participated in the celebration of the Chines Near Year of the Goat.
“The Year of Horse was special for me as it was the first year for me to function as Chinese Ambassador to Maldives, and also the first year for Chinese Embassy to operate from our new premises. What is more special about last year is that, like I mentioned in our Spring Festival Reception one year ago, the Year of Horse means developments and achievements. And indeed we had a lot of developments and achievements in China-Maldives relations during the past year of horse,” he said.
