Former Commissioner of Police, Kinbidhoo constituency MP, Abdulla Riyaz has said that the case of the alleged explosive device and the gun found from former Minister of Defence Nazim’s house was under a mischievous plan to frame him.
The legal team of Nazim stated that the time of the search operation also raises any doubts regarding the motive.
“We are certain that they are trying to frame him. No finger print was taken from the place where it is claimed that the IED was found. This is something very basic. Therefore we cannot accept these claims,” he said.
He said that the Police entered the premises of the residence by force in the middle of the night while Nazim and his family were asleep. He said that it is not the best time to conduct such an operation as the charged will not be fully conscious.
