Works commenced for the establishment of Sewerage System in Raa Atoll Maduvvari Island. Minister of Environment and Energy, Mr. Thoriq Ibrahim inaugurated the ceremony. In this ceremony, Minister of state for Environment and Energy, Mr. Abdul Matheen Mohamed, Managing Director of Male’ Water and Sewerage Company (MWSC), Mr. Ibrahim Fazul Rasheed, Member of Parliament for Raa atoll constituency, Mr. Mohamed Ameeth, Raa atoll Council and Raa atoll Maduvvari council members have participated.
Establishment of Sanitation Facility in Maduvvari island is carried out by MWSC, under a design and build contract.
The project includes laying down sewerage pipes, establishing Sewage pump stations and establishing sea outfall system. This total cost of the project is MVR49,967,811.83 and is expected to be completed by December 2015.
