Deputy Leader of the Jumhooree Party, Ameen Ibrahim has said that the Jumhooree Party wants to liberate the people of Maldives from intimidation and threats by the government.
Speaking at the press conference held today at the Jumhooree Maalan, Ameen Ibrahim said that now those in government posts want to remain in their jobs they have to attune their political thoughts and political affiliation according to the thoughts of the ruling party.
He said that things have gone so worse that now those who stand up for the rights of the people and to preserve and uphold the constitution are intimidated by different threats by the government and even independent institutions of the state.
In addition to this Ameen said that the Jumhooree Party and Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) will be signing an agreement to form a coalition to defend and uphold the constitution. He said that the signing ceremony will be held tonight publicly in front of the people.
Jumhooree Party leader, Gasim Ibrahim will be signing on behalf of the Jumhooree Party while former President Mohamed Nasheed will be signing the agreement on behalf of MDP.
