Former President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom has departed to India to participate in the Delhi Sustainable Development Summit.
Speaking to the media before leaving to the airport, Gayoom said that it is a very important meeting held annually.
“The event is hosted by The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI). I have attended the summit twice. Once while I was still the President and second later,” he said.
The Summit will also witness a range of luminaries from different fields, such as Abg Manuel Gerardo Pedro Pulgar-Vidal Otálora, Minister of Environment, Peru; Laurent Fabius, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Development, France; Prakash Javadekar, Hon’ble Minister of State for Environment, Forests & Climate Change (IC), India; Suresh Prabhu, Hon’ble Minister for Railways, India; Arnold Schwarzenegger, Founding Chair, R20 – Regions of Climate Change & Former Governor, California; Kailash Satyarthi, Nobel Laureate & Founder of Bachpan Bachao Andolan & Chairperson of Global March Against Child Labour, India, among others.
