PPM and the government never implemented the oath taken in the name of Allah to bring PPM Presidential candidate Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom to power.
In this regard, the most apparent testimony to this is the political posts of the current government. Despite the agreement that 35 percent of the government will given to the Jumhooree Party, the government failed to implement it.
Therefore, Jumhooree Party Gasim Ibrahim always noted these issues and strived to get these posts from the government for the Jumhooree Party.
Gasim Ibrahim said that he did not advocate for these posts because he wanted a certain position in the government but because it is a right of the members of the Jumhooree Party and their families.
Gasim Ibrahim made these remarks in many of this talks.
The other most apparent matter is the issue of the appointment of people for independent institutions.
The oath taken in the name of Allah clearly mentioned that members should be appointed for independent institutions following discussions held with the Jumhooree Party.
Gasim Ibrahim reiterated this point in many of his speeches.
However, the issue of Gasim Ibrahim running for Speaker’s position in the Peoples’ Majlis and his meeting with former President Mohamed Nasheed are among the problems raised by PPM.
Despite all of this, the party leader Gasim Ibrahim showed patience and perseverance in finding a solution.
It would have been better if the PPM can clarify which article of the oath taken in the name of Allah that the Jumhooree Party violated.
According to the agreement, if any issue not included in the agreement Is faced then both sides should hold discussions. Therefore, when Gasim Ibrahim decided to run for the Speaker’s position why did not PPM hold a discussion regarding it.
Gasim Ibrahim announced his decision days before PPM revealed their decision so it is clear who should initiate discussions with whom.
In fact, PPM previous stated that they will appoint Gasim as the Speaker although they now claim that “they did not mean it like that.” The people will testify that this was all drama that they played.
Next is the issue of the discussion Gasim Ibrahim held with former President Nasheed. PPM should clarify which article of the oath taken in the name of Allah that Gasim Ibrahim violated when he held discussions with a particular person during the campaigns for the Speaker’s position.
If they claim that the problems arose from that moment, then why was the oath agreement never implemented before that? If this the case then these claims made afterwards hold no weight and it is a lie made to deceive the public using the name of Allah in vain.
