MDP Spokesperson and the PG group member, Imthiyaz Fahmy has stated that MDP will not stop their activities to defend the constitution until justice is served as per the constitution.
Imthiyaz Fahmy made this remark speaking at the meeting held at M. Kunooz last night.
Imthiyaz accused the government of violating the constitution when the government sacked Supreme Court Judge Muthasim, Chief Justice Ahmed Faiz, Auditor General and also when the government annulled the coalition agreement with the Jumhooree Party.
He said that the current government came to power with the help and support of the Jumhooree Party and when they got power they annulled the agreement with the Jumhooree Party. He said that the government has lost their support from the people from that moment.
Imthiyaz said that it is also against the constitution for a government with no support from the people to remain in power.
“The government came into power with the support of Gasim Ibrahim and Maumoon Abdul Gayoom,” he said.
He added that an year has passed and the government has not fulfilled any of their electoral pledges.
