Jumhooree Party has held the “Maldivians in defence of the constitution” meeting last night. The meeting was held at the Jumhooree Maalan and M. Kunooz.
Inaugurating the meeting, the council member of the Jumhooree Party, Ali Hameed said that the meeting is the first from the series of activities Jumhooree Party will be holding to notify the government regarding the violations of the constitution that the government has been doing since their inception.
Ali Hameed said that the Jumhooree Party will always question the government of the day and hold them accountable to the public. He said that the meeting is held in this regard.
Ali Hameed added that the people will be granted the rights stipulated in the constitution fully only when the constitution is protected. He said that the obligation of protecting it and defending it is from the utmost obligation upon every Maldivian.
In addition to Jumhooree Party members, members of the Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) also participated in the meeting and expressed their concerns.
