Shaviyani Maroshi parents have raised concern regarding rumours that the Ministry of Education have decided to transfer the Principal of the Maroshi School to another island.
Many parents today went to the school and requested the Principal to remain in the island as the Principal of the school.
A parent who informed Miadhu Daily said that the parents are very pleased with the Principal and he has brought remarkable changes during his three years as the Principal.
Principal Baskaran stated that he was asked unofficially by the Ministry of Education whether he is ok with being transferred to another island. He said that somehow the parents were informed of this and they met him today requesting him to stay.
“They are concerned that I might be transferred. They are asked whether I am not pleased with them. I told them there is nothing like that and I have no interest to go to another island. I think the parents are ok now,” he said.
A parent told Miadhu Daily that the island school is a big school but the quality of education has not been good. He said that because of this many of the students left to Male’ and only a few are remaining. He expressed hopes that the school’s education quality will be developed and the students who left to Male’ will return.
