A function to celebrate the 66th Republic Day of India was held at the Indian High Commission where High Commissioner of India to the Maldives, Rajeev Sahare unfurled the national flag and President Pranab Mukherjee’s address to the nation was broadcast.
The Indian National Tricolour was hoisted by the High Commissioner Shri Rajeev Shahare followed by singing of the National Anthem.
Thereafter, High Commissioner addressed the gathering and highlighted the importance of these National Day celebrations as events to keep us together in distant lands.
High Commissioner read out the address to the nation by Rashtrapatiji on the eve of the Republic Day. A small cultural event with the singing of patriotic songs was organised.
