Sri Lankan PM faced with the big challenge of corruption of former govt
The Sri Lankan Prime Minister Ranil Wickremasinghe is faced with the big challenge of the allegations of corruption under the previous regime.

Some of the Sri Lankan media report that Wickremasinghe is faced with the challenge of corruption of the former government wherever he faces.

The Wall Street Journal quoted the Sri Lankan Prime Minister saying that “This is going to be a huge, huge challenge.”

In an interview with The Wall Street Journal, Mr. Wickremesinghe said one of his most urgent priorities was to depoliticize the police and “dismantle the apparatus that was built up” under Mr. Rajapaksa to stifle dissent. His government has called on journalists and intellectuals who have fled the country to return.

Legal and financial experts state that corruption is the reason for the destruction of every country and prosecuting and proving corruption in court is not easy.

Many countries therefore believe that corruption is the enemy of the people and some even describe it as the destruction of the society.

However, as dangerous and harmful it is, corruption is rampant and widespread in almost all countries.

Even in Maldives, it is the case. According to the reports of the state Auditor General, 99 percent of the reports exposes cases of corruption.
