Mohamed Nazim, who was dismissed from his position as the Minister of Defence and National Security, has expressed his hopes to serve the people and the Maldivian nation from a higher position.
Nazim made this remark speaking to the press regarding his dismissal from the government. He said that he does not want any position in the current government and will not accept any positions from the current government.
When asked whether he will run for Presidency, Nazim said that it is a right of every Maldivian citizen and if the people request him to run for Presidency then he is prepared for it.
Nazim also said that he will join the opposition and practically work with them for their rights.
However, he said that he wants to do everything professionally and since he was the Minister of Defence, he will not start criticizing the government from day one but will give the government a time period.
Minister Nazim said that the President informed him that he was not aware of the Police search operation conducted in his residence. He said that it is unacceptable that such a big operation was carried out at the residence of the Minister of Defence without the knowledge of the President.
He said that his lawyers will be updating the press regarding the case and he will not be making any statements regarding the case as it is being investigated by police.
My hope is to serve the people from a much higher position- Nazim
