Police alleges that dangerous weapons were found in the residence of Nazim
Maldives Police Service has revealed that dangerous weapons were confiscated by the Police from the residence of the former Minister of Defence Mohamed Nazim during the police raid conducted some nights back.

Police confirmed the rumours that weapons were found at Nazim’s residence during the press briefing held yesterday at Iskandharu Koshi.

Spokesperson of the Commissioner of Police, the Superintendent Ahmed Shifan stated that the police conducted a search operation at a house in Galolhu district under a court warrant in the early hours of Sunday, after receiving information that dangerous weapons were in the house.

Superintendent Shifan stated that the Police at the time was not aware that it was the residence of Minister of Defence then but they came to know of it only after entering the apartment and therefore treated him with respect.

Shifan noted that the search operation was conducted at the presence of Nazim and dangerous weapons were confiscated from the two apartments searched at his presence.

The Spokesperson of the Commissioner of Police also revealed that Nazim has not provided his full support to the police investigation following the raid. However, Nazim had stated in a press conference earlier yesterday that he has been providing his full support in the case. He had also revealed that former Attorney General, Aishath Azima Shukoor, has been appointed as his attorney.
