Our People and Culture: The Team Behind the Digital Nation

The progress achieved in 2025 was shaped by the people who drive the country’s digital transformation every day. Their skills, commitment, and resilience enabled the organisation to navigate a year of expansion while laying down the foundations required for a modern and connected public sector. As national digital transformation accelerates, the strength of our team remains central to the work ahead.

A fully Maldivian team of 132 staff formed the backbone of the organisation’s work, carrying forward the organisation’s mission across development, operations, support, and corporate functions. Their professionalism helped maintain high service standards even as responsibilities grew. Careful planning and responsible resource management ensured teams could operate effectively while upholding a workplace culture grounded in integrity, collaboration, and continuous learning. This commitment reflects the depth of local talent supporting the nation’s digital ambitions.

Operational and governance capability also grew stronger during the year. Several internal services were digitalised, reducing administrative workload and improving accuracy across routine processes. Restructuring efforts clarified responsibilities and strengthened workflows, while enhancements to monitoring, documentation, and policy alignment improved governance across systems. These developments strengthened institutional readiness and reinforced confidence in the organisation’s ability to coordinate national digital delivery.

Supporting emerging talent remained a priority. The Internship Programme, launched in January and completed in October, provided 10 young professionals with hands-on exposure to development, solutions, data, testing, and administration. Several participants transitioned into full-time roles, while others continued their studies or secured positions elsewhere, demonstrating the programme’s value in building national digital capability. Planning for the 2026 intake began with strong public interest, reflecting the growing demand for pathways into the digital sector.

Training and capacity building continued throughout the year, offering staff opportunities to gain global exposure in digital governance, trade facilitation, and cybersecurity. Participation in international workshops, study tours, and specialised courses strengthened institutional knowledge and ensured alignment with global best practices. These experiences enriched the organisation’s capability and supported more informed decision-making at home.

Corporate social responsibility remained an important expression of the organisation’s values. Activities focused on meaningful contributions to health, inclusivity, and environmental stewardship. Staff volunteered across community-led initiatives, supporting clean-up efforts, awareness activities, and national campaigns. These engagements reinforced a shared belief in service beyond the workplace.

Ultimately, the progress of 2025 reflects the dedication of the people who power the organisation. Their professionalism, adaptability, and belief in the national mission shaped every achievement described in this publication. As responsibilities expand under the Maldives 2.0 agenda, it is their commitment to learning, collaboration, and public service that ensures we move forward with confidence, building a digital nation strengthened by the people behind it.
