Minister of Islamic Affars, Dr. Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed has said that the Hajj Corporation has achieved remarkable success within a short period of time.
He said that the Hajj Corporation which was established by the government to provide ease to the people to goto Hajj achieved remarkable successes within less than an year.
Dr. Shaheem made this remark speaking at the ceremony held to officially inaugurate the Hajj Corporation.
Dr. Shaheem said that the Hajj Corporation was made in the model of the Hajj Corporations of countries like Malaysia.
Maldives Hajj Corporation Limited (MHCL) is a state owned company which is incorporated under a Presidential Decree in 2013. The main objective of the Corporation is to pave the way for all the citizen of Maldives to perform their Hajj with an affordable cost while safeguarding the savings of the Maldivians who are intending to perform Hajj and Umrah.
The money deposited with the Corporation will be invested in shariah investment avenues to preserve the purity and integrity of profits derived which is free from "riba" elements and to avoid trading in prohibited ‘haram' products. The profits received from these investments will be distributed to the saving scheme members of the Corporation and this will boost up the speed of the maturity of the savings made by the members of the Corporation intending to perform Hajj in a future date. Making sure that the pilgrims get good quality services during Hajj and providing the necessary training for the pilgrims to make them clear of the rituals at Hajj are priorities of Corporation. In addition to this, throughout the year, training programs will be conducted to ensure that the Pilgrims are ready mentally, physically and psychologically for the rituals of Hajj.
Furthermore, the Corporation will also make the necessary arrangements for the citizens of Maldives who are interested in performing Umrah, in an affordable price, up to the anticipated level of expectation.
