Jumhooree Party leader, Gasim Ibrahim has said that the official talks between the party and the main opposition Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) have not been held yet.
Gasim Ibrahim made this remark speaking to the media at a time a lot of people were gathered near his house when Maldives Police Service revealed about a court warrant to search the residence of Gasim.
Gasim said that no talks or discussions have been yet held at the party council or any other organ of the Jumhooree Party in this regard.
“I do not know whether unofficial talks have been held between the members of the two parties. For a certainty, I have not held any discussions as of yet,” he said.
Gasim said that the former President Mohamed Nasheed’s recent remarks were in line with the decision of the Jumhooree Party’s Parliamentary Group.
Gasim said that anyone who comes out to defend and uphold the constitution is in fact a person who is coming out to defend his nation.
“We are not trying to seek fame or name. If the goal is reached then it is my intention,” he said.
