President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has inaugurated the second phase of the Hulhumale’ land reclamation project.
A special ceremony was held Thursday night to inaugurate the second phase of the project. President Yameen said that the project will be complete within two months.
He said that all of the works of the second phase is expected to he finished within an year. He said that it is expected that the population of Hulhumale’ after the project will be 2200000. He said that the total population of both Male’ and Hulhumale’ then will be 4000000.
President Yameen said that all works of the development of Hulhumale' would be carried out under a specific plan.
He said that regardless of the criticism by some people, the project will be completed soon.
The President said that the government will make sure that the island will be enjoyed by all ages including elderly people although the city is developed as the youth city.
He said that those interested in investing in Hulhumale’ will not have to wait long for them to get many investment opportunities in the island.
