Director General of the Islamic development bank’s Islamic Research and training Institute has said that poverty can be eradicated from the Muslim countries if Zakat is established.
Dr. Mohamed Azmi made this remark speaking at the discussion forum held with the ministry of Islamic affairs regarding the strengthening of the Zakat system of Maldives.
Dr. Mohamed Azmi said that the Muslims pay Zakat but it can only be beneficial if it is spent on the rightful recipients.
“It can be done by giving it to those who have a right to it,” he said.
Dr. Azmi said that regardless whether the government does whatever they want with the tax money they collect but as for Zakat.
He said that IDB will cooperate with every muslim country who wants to implement the Zakat system.
Dr. Azmi added that the Islamic finance is being accepted throughout the world with acceptance. I am very happy that the Islamic Ministry of Maldives has taken the initiative to introduce a perfect Zakat system in Maldives,” he said.
