JP welcomes government’s decision to increase the salaries of teachers
Jumhooree Party has welcomed the decision of the government to increase the salaries of the teachers with the beginning of the new year.

Jumhooree Party stated that in the past seven years the teachers have been left ignored even with the many complaints raised by them regarding the difficulties they face.

“We also thank the Teachers Association and all the teachers for their hard work and efforts to resolve the issues faced by the teachers,” the party stated.

The party stated that the leader of the Jumhooree Party, Gasim Ibrahim met with the Teachers Association to discuss the issues faced by the teachers and help resolve them.

Jumhooree Party leader and the Parliamentary Group members have made many efforts to resolve the issues from within the Peoples’ Majlis and outside the majlis.

They party parliamentary group members informed the government of these issues faced by the teachers during the budget review for the year 2015.

Meanwhile, President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom recently announced the Government’s decision to increase teachers’ salaries by more than one third of their existing salaries, starting from the 2015 academic year. The President made this announcement while speaking at the function held Tuesday evening, to commence the professionalization of athletes in the senior national squads, as part of the Government’s electoral pledge.

Speaking at the function, the President commended the hard work put in by the Ministry of Education and the Teachers’ Association over the past years, to resolve the matter.
