Maldives Police Service has arrested two people from Maduvvari in the ongoing operation conducted in the island by Maldives Police Service and Maldivian National Defence Force against extremists.
Police arrested two men aged 30 and 34 from the island. The operation began today, after it was discovered that there are people in the island who adhere to extremist ideologies and live secluded from the society.
Some of the suspects even refuse to let their children and wives out of their houses. Some sources say that some women and children rescued today has been living inside a house for more than 6 months.
Police stated some of the people in the island are supporters of extremist groups such as ISIS and Al Qaida.
