Faculty of Islamic Studies and the Islamic Ministry has signed a memorandum of understanding on cooperation.
The ceremony held to sign the MOU was held in the Islamic Ministry yesterday afternoon.
Dean of the Faculty of Islamic Studies, Dr. Zakariyya Moosa signed the MOU on behalf of the faculty while Minister of Islamic Affairs, Dr. Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed signed on behalf of the ministry.
Speaking at the ceremony, Dr. Shaheem said that under this MOU training programs of imams and funeral processions and also increasing the resources of the faculty will be conducted.
“The matters mentioned in this agreement have the initiation from the faculty. We have been cooperating with the faculty. This MOU will bring many successes to the ministry,” he said.
He said that the ministry’s Islamic awareness program will be expanded with many knowledge based projects under this MOU with the cooperation from the faculty.
He said that this includes translation of religious texts under the guidance of the faculty.
