Spokesperson of the President’s Office, Ibrahim Muaz Ali has stated that the government will never challenge the religion of Islam and will never oppose Islam.
Speaking to Miadhu Daily, Muaz said that the government is inviting famous singers to promote Maldivian tourism in the international community.
He said that the famous R&B singer, Akon is invited to perform in Maldives on the eighth of this month in that regard.
Muaz said that there is no agenda to violate the tenets of Islam in anyway whatsoever. He said that performance of famous international artists in the Maldives will raise the status of Maldives in the international community.
He said that the claims that the current President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom’s previously objected to Akon’s performance in Maldives when the MDP government invited him is false.
Muaz said that the former President Mohamed Nasheed’s government was unable to bring Akon due to technical problems and not because of the opposition.
“MDP will not care about what people think. They are the ones who kidnapped Abdulla Judge. They took their stand when all the world were calling for his release,” he said.
