Concerted effort needed to bring rectification and progress- Gasim
Jumhooree Party leader, Gasim Ibrahim has said that a concerted effort by all responsible bodies is needed to bring rectification to the problems including violation of the rights of the people, gang violence, corruption and other such vices.

Gasim Ibrahim made this remark in his address to the nation on the occasion of the New Year celebration.

Gasim said that progress and development cannot be brought except through a concerted effort by all by cooperating with one another. He said that the past successes were also achieved by acting upon this philosophy.

He stressed that the future can be made also bright by treading upon this path of unity and stability.

The Jumhooree Party leader further said that lessons should be drawn from past experiences in the years gone by and the present should be built upon those lessons to make the future bright and happy.

He said that it is said in an old adage that the past is a mirror to find ones blemishes.

“The map of future should be drawn by taking lessons from the past,” he said.

“With the end of the year 2014, there are things that we all Maldivians should weigh upon a national scale. We should know which changes that were seen in our daily life in the past year. Whether it be in our personal lives, our education, our jobs, our residence, our environment, our island. Was it a good change or a bad change? To what heights have we reached in getting basic services? How many steps have we moved forward in our journey? Is there any hope for any brighter days?,” he said.
