Ahmed Asif, a prominent lawyer has stated that operations conducted by the specialist operations department of police and the drug enforcement department of police should be recorded on camera.
He said that the code of conduct of Maldives Police Service should be changed accordingly.
He said that many of his clients claim that they have experienced police torture like they tortured a suspect last night.
Previously many police operations were recorded on tape however it was later stopped. Many believe that it was stopped because police had to conduct politically motivated operations.
