President reminds that job security entirely depends on work ethic, enthusiasm and competence
President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has reminded all that job security entirely depends on work ethic, enthusiasm and competence.

He made this remark while speaking at the graduation ceremony of “Dhasvaaru 2014”, vocational training programme conducted by the Ministry of Education.

The President said that the employment opportunities in the Maldivian job market were created for Maldivians, and not for expatriate workers.

At the ceremony held at the Islamic Centre Tuesday morning, the President said that the Government’s purpose for creating jobs for Maldivians, and conducting vocational training programmes was to shape the country’s youth in to a confident, keen, and skilled populace. Continuing on this note, the President said that important work ethics will not be instilled through training, and that it was up to the individual to develop such qualities in themselves.

In his speech, the President said that vocational training was as crucial as scholastic education, to the growth of the country and its economy. Speaking in this regard, the President said that those who complete vocational training equally contribute to the country’s economy, as those who complete higher education. He went on to describe this year’s Dhasvaaru graduates as the pride of the country.

At the ceremony, President Yameen awarded certificates to the graduates of Dhasvaaru 2014. Also at the ceremony, Minister of Education Dr. Aishath Shiham presented the first copy of the booklet on the programme “Education and Development for a Civilised Society” to First Lady Fathimath Ibrahim.
