Civil Court Judge M. Kokahandhuvaru AlUstadha Aishath Shujoon Mohamed has resigned from her post.
Shujoon submitted her resignation letter to the Judicial Service Commission (JSC) informing that her resignation will be affecting from the first of January.
While the reason for the resignation has not been revealed, Shujoon did not make any comments regarding why she resigned.
The resignation letter was submitted to the JSC yesterday.
While she resigned, in a TV program aired on February 14th Shujoon claimed that she was offered five million dollars as bribe. JSC stated that the commission have been investigating the allegation since that day.
However, JSC has not revealed any progress or any updates on the investigation so far.
Shujoon is among the first woman judges who took oath of judges in the Maldives. The other female judge is H. Sandybeach alUstadha Huzayfa Mohamed.
They both took their oath of office on 11 July 2007 at the presence of the then President, Maumoon Abdul Gayoom.
