Minister of State for Islamic Affairs, Dr. Aishath Muneeza has said that there are opportunities to do business in accordance to Sharia accepted principles now available in Maldives.
Speaking to Miadhu Daily, Dr. Aishath Muneeza said that the a distinct Islamic Capital Market has been now introduced in the Maldives, where investment, financing activities and products are structured in accordance with principles of Shariáh.
She said that it is the outcome of a natural progression in the growth of the Islamic financial services industry of the Maldives.
Dr. Muneeza said that all companies have the opportunity to be part of the Islamic Capital Market and the necessary laws have been compiled.
She said that companies already selling shares can join the Islamic Capital Market without any fee.
Dr. Muneeza said that since 2011 much efforts have been done to expand Islamic Finance in the Maldives. She said that Islamic Capital Market is part of these efforts.
