Defense Minister Mariya Didi has expressed her support for the reforms started by the judiciary of the Maldives.
Last week, the judiciary launched a roadmap with 20 goals in order to reform the judiciary of Maldives.
The minister tweeted saying that the people of Maldives used the opportunity when former President Maumoon began a roadmap for reform and hence Maldivians can use this opportunity provided by the judiciary to reform the judiciary. She said that there are many people who holds this view.
Judicial administrator Dr.Nazeer said that the the roadmap was formulated with input from participants of the Judicial Independence and Reform Conference, UNDP, foreign organizations and research conducted on the Maldivian judiciary. Important points in the roadmap includes amending the legislation on the judicial service commission, and to strengthening the process of appointing and dismissing judges and establishing a mechanism to hold judges accountable.
