Minister of Environment Ibrahim Thoriq has stated that the MDP government only gave Addu City a name sake city status.
Minister Thoriq made this remark speaking at the ceremony held in Hulhumeedhoo to inaugurate MIFCO fisheries complex in Addu City and to establish water and sewerage system in the city.
He said that it is the current government who are working to give Addu City the real city status by commencing such developmental projects.
He said that the government will develop water supply system, sewerage system and electricity system in the city. He said that the people will be enjoying the benefits of these developmental programs soon.
The MIFCO fisheries complex opened last night will freeze 100 tonnes of fish daily. And they will be selling 50 tonnes of ice daily. The company stated that the complex can store 50 tonne water and 200 tone oil.
The company also stated that a cold storage will be established which can store 1500 tones of fish.
