Civil Court orders to reinstate a police officer who was dismissed after the 1st February Supreme Court verdict

Civil Court of the Maldives has ordered to reinstate Sgt Ali Rilwan Ahmed who was dismissed following the events of 1st February 2018 Supreme Court verdict. The court ordered to reinstate him and pay him the salary of 13 months all at once.

Speaking to Miadhu News, his wife Nashidha Ahmed said that the court ordered to pay 212,716.56 Rufiyaa to Rilwan and to reinstate him. 

After the Supreme Court verdict in 2018, the police arrested former head of SO Saif Hussein, station inspector Faiz Mohammed, SWAT member Abdullah Riyaz, Corporal Naseer, Corporal Hassan Naseer, Corporal Mohamed Shamin, Sgt Ali Rilwan and Sgt Ahmed Asim.

Civil Court has ordered to reinstate most of these officers. It is expected that all of them would be reinstated soon.
