Rear Admiral A. S. M. A. Awal, High Commissioner of Bangladesh to the Maldives has stated that the government of Bangladesh have submitted proposals to resolve the problem of Bangladesh’s illegal workers in Maldives.
The High Commissioner made this remark in an interview to Miadhu Daily prior to his fairwell departure.
The High Commissioner said that he believes that action are being taken against illegal workers from Bangladesh.
He said that the great number of Bangladeshis in Maldives is the result of a crime committed deliberately.
“We do not want even one Bangladeshi to be in Maldives without the proper documents. But we are in this situation and now. Therefore it is upon us to solve this problem,” he said.
