MDP govt came to an end for rejecting Gasim’s offer- Moosa Manik
Hulhuhenveiru constituency MP, Moosa Manik has said that the MDP government came to an end in the year 2012 because President Mohamed Nasheed rejected the offer of Jumhooree Party leader Gasim Ibrahim in the year 2009.

Moosa Manik made this remark in the VTV program “Ameenuge Malafaih”. He said that Gasim Ibrahim tried to join MDP following his resignation as the Home Minister after some differences that occurred at a meeting at Reethi Rah Resort.

Moosa Manik said that Gasim Ibrahim offered MDP to work together with the Jumhooree Party to win the Majlis election of the year 2009. However Nasheed rejected the offer,

“The discussions were held in my office. Nasheed wanted to win the election without joining any parties,” he said.

Moosa Manik said that MDP lost the election and DRP wont he Majlis election because of the stubbornness of Nasheed.

“The problems arose from that moment. DRP was able to allocate their members to independent institutions. MDP lost control by then,” he said.
