An official of the opposition Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) has said that the party will certainly take action against the 6 MDP members who failed to attend the sitting of the Peoples’ Majlis held to remove the Supreme Court Chief Justice Ahmed Faiz Hussein and Supreme Court Judge Ahmed Mutasim Adnan.
The issue began when the six members did not take part in Sunday’s vote of whether to approve the dismissal of Supreme Court Chief Justice Ahmed Faiz Hussain and Justice Muthasim Adnan - from their posts; in spite of the party appealing all members to take their firm stand against the motion.
The six members include: Deputy Speaker of the Parliament and Hulhu-Henveyru MP - Moosa Manik, Velidhoo MP - Abdulla Yamin, Mulak MP - Ibrahim Naseer, Felidhoo MP - Ahmed Marzooq and Kurehdhoo MP - Abdul Baree Abdulla.
While the official assured that the party will take action against the 6 members, the official did not give details of the action that will be taken against them.
According to the charter of MDP four actions can be taken against them including giving them a warning, fining them, suspending them or removing them from the party.
