Tried fast track the bills : Qasim Ibrahim

Speaker of the parliament Qasim Ibrahim said that he tried his best to pass important bills before the parliament went to recess.

He said that he even talked with the leaders of the parties even on the last day, about the importance of passing those bills.

Speaking to the press after the meeting held by the coalition leaders at Hotel Jen yesterday, Qasim said that based on the regulations of the parliament, the parliament will go to recess on 1st December, but they extended it to 15th of December based on the advice of the president.

“It is not like the parliament went to recess without doing anything. We discussed in the parliamentary group. We went to recess because no other motion was put forward to extend it. Some MPs went abroad for medical purposes. All PPM members boycotted the session that day.

Even if Maseeh tried to pass bills without the required number of MPs in the parliament, I will not do it” said Qasim. Qasim said that he is ready to convene a session of the parliamentary group of the parties wished to do so.
