Dependent visa to be issued for parents of Maldivian students in Malaysia
Maldivian High Commission in Malaysia has revealed that the government of Malaysia has informed them that the government has decided to issue dependent visa parents or guardians of the Maldivian students pursuing their under graduate level studies in Malaysia.

According to the Foreign Ministry, the Maldivian Ambassador Mohamed Fayaz staed that undergraduate students in Malaysia will receive dependent visa to their wives or husbands or children or parents based on their student visa.

Maldivian Community living in Malaysia have been facing difficulties in the past in obtaining dependent/guardian visas.

A large portion of Maldivian students studying in Malaysia were reading for their Undergraduate programmes and given the traditional familial setting of Maldivian society, similar to that of Malaysia, parents preferred to stay with their children until the completion of their studies.

Further in this regard, Malaysia remains a preferred destination for higher education for Maldivian students and therefore, a more flexible visa arrangement is necessary to enable greater people to people movement between Maldives and Malaysia.
