US Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asian ‎Affairs calls on the President
At the meeting held at the President’s Office this morning, ‎President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom and the Assistant Secretary‎ of State Ms. Nisha Biswal exchanged ‎views on ‎avenues for enhancing the close friendly relations that exist ‎between the ‎Maldives and the United States.

The Assistant Secretary of State also ‎inquired ‎about the efforts and steps undertaken by the Maldives on the ‎‎socioeconomic development of the country.‎

The President and the Assistant Secretary of State further ‎discussed ways to strengthen cooperation in the international arena on ‎areas of mutual concern such as in global fight against ‎terrorism.‎

The meeting was attended by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, ‎Dunya Maumoon, Ambassador at Large, Ahmed Mohamed, Charge d’ ‎Affairs of the US Embassy in Colombo, Andrew Mann, and the Deputy ‎Acting Political Chief of the ‎Embassy of US in Colombo and the Deputy ‎Head of the Political Section, Siobah Oat-Judge.‎
