At the Twenty Eighth Sitting of the Third Session of the People’s Majlis held yesterday, the Bill on Amendment to the Export and Import Act of Maldives (Act No. 31/79) tabled on behalf of the Government by Hon. Mohamed Ismail, MP for Horafushi, was passed with 49 votes in favour.
There were 16 votes against and no abstentions.
The Committee Report on the Bill, reviewed by the Committee of the Whole House, was presented to the floor by the presiding Chair, Speaker Hon. Abdulla Maseeh Mohamed.
11 Members spoke during time allocated for debate.
The First Hearing of the Bill was held on 17 November 2014 at the Fourteenth Sitting of the Third Session of the Majlis. The Bill was sent to the Committee of the Whole House on 26 November 2014 at the Nineteenth Sitting of the Third Session of the Majlis, and forwarded to the Committee on Economic Affairs for review. The Committee on Economic Affairs finished work on the Bill on 11 December 2014, and the Committee Report was finalized on 15 December 2014.
