Speaker of the parliament, Qasim Ibrahim has met with the President-elect Ibrahim Mohammed Solih. No further details about the meeting has been revealed so far.
The parliament is preparing for the inauguration ceremony of the president-elect according to the deputy speaker of the parliament Moosa Manik.
It is estimated that around 11,000 people will be invited to the ceremony. A record number of foreign dignitaries will also attend the ceremony.
Inauguration ceremonies are usually held in the parliament house. President Yameen’s inauguration ceremony was held in Dharubaaruge. President-elect Solih’s inauguration ceremony will be held in Galolhu football stadium. Hence this will be the first time in the history of Maldives where an inauguration ceremony is held in an open space.
