Jumhooree Party leader, Gasim Ibrahim has stated that the pre-whip to vote indepently for the vote taken to remove the Supreme Court Judges, Chief Justice Ahmed Faiz and Judge Mutasim Adnan on 14th of this month was issued by the Parliamentary Group of the party.
Gasim made this remark in a tweet he made on his official twitter page yesterday.
He said that the Jumhooree Party did not make any agreements with the ruling Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM) or Ahmed Adheeb regarding the vote. He said that the pre-whip was decided by the PG group of the party without any outside influence whatsoever.
Gasim and other three members of the Jumhooree Party voted against the removal of the judges while 5 members voted to remove them and two members refrained from voting.
Gasim said that he pushed the red button. “What can I do. I am not the one giving votes on behalf of others,” he said.
