At the Twenty Seventh Sitting of the Third Session of the People’s Majlis held today, the Bill on Amendment to the Law on Prohibiting Threatening and Possession of Dangerous Weapons and Sharp Objects (Act No. 17/2010) was passed with seven amendments with 47 votes in favour.
17 Members voted against, and there were 2 abstentions.
The Bill, tabled by Ibrahim Didi, MP for Feydhoo, was sent to the Committee on National Security for review on 19 November 2014 at the Sixteenth Sitting of the Third Session of the Majlis. The Committee Report was presented by Committee Chair Ibrahim Riza, MP for Guraidhoo.
The First Hearing of the Bill was held on 5 November 2014 at the Ninth Sitting of the Third Session of the Majlis.
