Bill on Criminal Procedure Accepted for Majlis Consideration

At the Twenty Seventh Sitting of the Third Session of the People’s Majlis held today, the Bill on Criminal Procedure was accepted for Majlis consideration with 68 votes in favour.

There was one abstention and no votes against.

The Bill was sent for review to the Committee on National Security. Ten Members spoke during time allocated for plenary debate.

The First Hearing of the Bill was held on 10 December 2014 at the Twenty Fourth Sitting of the Third Session of the Majlis, and was tabled on behalf of the Government by Hon. Mohamed Waheed Ibrahim, MP for Thulusdhoo.

The People’s Majlis will meet again on 16 December 2014 at 1100 hrs.
