Thoddoo constituency MP, Ibrahim Hassan has said that he has high hopes for the new Chief Justice and the state budget passed for the coming year.
MP Ibrahim Hassan made this remark at the sitting of the Peoples’ Majlis held on Sunday night. He said that the new Chief Justice Abdulla Saeed is a hope for prosperity of the nation. He said that Abdulla Saeed is a courageous, capable and honest person.
“We have a hopeful Chief Justice. We have passed a hopeful state budget. We will see prosperity and happiness in the Maldivian nation,” he said.
Ibrahim Hassan said that he voted for a change hopeful to see a good change in establishing justice for the people and also for political parties. He said that he is certain that the newly elected Chief Justice will benefit the people and the Maldivian nation.
“I voted intending reform of the judiciary. I voted hopeful for a better change,” he said.
Ibrahim Hassan said that last night is a historic and ground breaking night for Maldives. “All political parties agree and call to the reformation of the judiciary. We hear about this nonstop from the media,” he said.
“The political parties do not appoint or remove the judges. It is the responsibility of the Judicial Service Commission. Therefore, that responsibility cannot be put on the shoulder of any political party. Upon us is to review the appointed person and give our feedback and give our vote,” he said.
